Gold mining is a major industry in the U.S. State of Nevada. In 2007, mining overall contributed $5.4 billion to the state's economy, $4.2 billion of that was from gold mining. Gold production from Nevada is higher than any other U.S. state, 6,037,000 ozt (6,623,000 oz; 187,800,000 g) in 2007, accounting for 78% of all gold produced in the United States.
